Dude, Where's My Head

Now, I am not an Art Director or magazine/catalog editor of any kind.

And I really like Talbots clothes (leaving aside the fact that they are kinda pricey and I'm currently too fat to fit into them anyway).

But something about this is just wrong.

I mean, I get the concept of how she's leaning on the overflowing suitcase to try to close it. And okay, the blouse is cute. Skirt is...poofy-looking in the picture, but could be cute in real life. Shoes are OMG SOOOO cute (not to mention I would kill to have legs like that), but WHY IS THERE NO HEAD ON THIS MODEL?

Really, Talbots? This is the best you could do?

Oh, and if I was that model? I'd be pissed. Like I'm suddenly not looking good enough to have my face on the cover? You want to feature my ass instead? In a super-poofy skirt of all things?

I just...

It's just...

I don't even have the words (and since yesterday's post was already about poo, I'm REALLY out of words).

But help me out here...am I off-base and this is actually a fabulous shot?

HaHa! I totally didn't get the whole picture at first glance. I thought it was one of those silly photoshop deals. And I think the stuff in the suitcase looks more like scarves and shoes! I'm with you, cute idea...not so hot delivery. Have a great day!

Maybe it is like actors that have walk on roles but no lines... they don't have to pay a model as much if they are not using her face. Or maybe she is one of those people with a more than average beautiful body below the neck, and is horribly disfigured in the face. Or perhaps she is having a bad hair day and they didn't have the money in the photo shoot budget to fix it.

And I am with you on the lovely clothes that don't fit my body at all. They need a Talbot's Grande for me!
;-)

Enjoy the day!

this is an odd photo..even if she was having a bad hair/face day..they could have turned her head away from the camera and given her a wig..come on guys..women are alot more than just a headless body.

I like it but still not sure about not having a head...and why isn't she wearing a cardigan if that is what's on sale? hmmm

Maybe the model is 25% off too?

I rather like the catalogue cover. The models face is not necessary. Her clothing and shoes are modeled well. It's kinda like "paste your face here". You may not be skinny enough (that would be me) but you don't have to have the beautiful model face to wear Talbots.

Well, there is a flavor of "worshiping at the porcelain altar" about it, or the old "working on my knees" gag. (No puns intended.) One can't help feeling desperately curious about what is happening just out of the frame...

I love the photo actually~ it removes the gratuitous pretty face, features a full looking bum (dibs! I want one!) and acknowledges our (or just my...) need to way overpack for any trip.

Thumbs up on all counts...plus CUTE SHOES!

Not just you...it does look funny. The outfit is cute (very 1950's) but I'm with you...the clothes don't fit my--shall we say--lush--body.
Bead happy!
