It's Beady Friday!

Last night was such a downer! I don't know if it's because I'm still mourning the loss of my dad two months ago or what, but the news about Michael Jackson (and Farrah Fawcett) really hit me hard yesterday. I stayed up til midnight watching MJ videos on VH1 and MTV and crying.

What a dork I am.

So, today needs some happyness in it...which to me means...BEADS!

I sent my trusty assistant, Russ, from Rings 'N Things, into my bead room in search of goodies to share with you all today. Now, it's possible that over the years, the bead room has become a bit, ummm, what's the word? Crowded? Disorganized? Dangerously overgrown like the darkest forests of Africa?

I tried to warn Russ, but he plunged ahead anyway. I guess there are no lengths he won't go to in search of beads:

I did forget to provide him with a map and compass, however, so he might've gotten a bit lost in there (it's easy to do - happens to me all the time).

I think he was trying to climb up higher in the tree to take a look around, but he only succeeded in getting more lost.

And then it got dark...

I may've also forgotten to warn him that some of the more overgrown corners are home to strange creatures:

Look out, Russ! It's the giant man-eating parrot of Toomoonawanda!

Looks like I arrived just in time to save the day:

I finally rescued Russ from the bead room jungle and pointed him in the right direction:

Ahhh...suburbia.

And we finally did find those beads:

Today's drool-worthy items are from Artisan Clay.

This one reminds me of a frosty winter sky.

And this one is the sunshine on the water at Crescent Bay (my favorite beach!)

This one is very subtle - the picture doesn't do it justice. In real life, it's the color of beach sand with a few hints of pale blue and aqua here and there. PERFECT for summer-time jewelry!

And the bright colors in this one just make me happy.

Of course, I have no idea what I'm going to do with any of them yet, but they were so beautiful, I just couldn't resist.

That's it for now. Happy Friday, everyone!

KJ

P.S. I sent in some submissions to "Bead Trends" magazine for their December issue so wish me luck on that!

Isn't it something how a thing so small can make a smile so big? You have such lovely items in your jungle...I mean...bead studio! I love hearing about that rascally Russ! (He will be debuting on Treausures Found next week...but I have hit my self-imposed quota of blog posts this week!) Keep on smiling...that is what all those dear to us whom we have known and loved and lost would want for us to do. For my part, I have been remembering some of my youth (ah, youth!) with the music and the pictures and the remembrances! Think happy-go-beady thoughts! Enjoy the day! Erin

What cool beads you have.

My condolences on the recent passing of your dad. What an intense loss, I know; lost mine 18 years ago, and never stop missing him.

Rose - thank you. I think it's just going to take more time. I still haven't totally accepted that my Dad is gone. Glad my post brought you a smile.

Meghann - Great minds think alike! I was thinking about some silk ribbons, too. I know I have a stash of beautiful, hand-dyed ones, but it will require going back into the "bead jungle" to find them. I guess Russ will have to go on another expedition.

Dear Miss Parrot -

The world will never be the same, that is what we mourn, the seen. What a wonderful man you had for a father, how blessed you are.

Now you know he is there with you always, with your spirit, no need to call him to you, holding your hand, cheering you on, free of all judgment and mistakes, pure love

love is all there is -

I am sorry to know you have been so sad all this time sharing with us all in your cheerful generous way.

Hope you feel the loving kindness from us that we feel from your posts and somehow may your grief set you free.
Peace for all
