Drill, baby, drill

Glad everyone liked the story - it's good to know my humor translates okay. Sometimes I write stuff and then I wonder if anyone else "gets it." At least blog writing is good therapy. I have to laugh at and make fun of this stuff sometimes otherwise I end up alone and crying in my shower...oh wait...I did that, too.

But, I'm happy to report, that today no one is sick (well, okay, kid is still a bit sniffly and coughy but he's on the mend), no one has a headache, there have been no more mysterious noises and I haven't tripped over anything.

I was late to work this morning, but at least I made it in one piece which, given the state of driving in So Cal, is NEVER a sure thing.

Yesterday I had to stay home with the kid as his cold took a turn for the worse on Monday night. Bad for my paycheck, but I did manage to get one project finished:

As soon as I saw these flowers from Beadin' Path, I just had this vision of two of them linked together on the side of a necklace. Only problem was - when they actually arrived at my house, they didn't have holes in the right spots to make the design work.

Enter my Fiskar's craft drill (bought from Amazon.com for $18) to save the day!

I tell ya - this is the best invention EVER! So far, I've tested it on Lucite and on wood and it was perfect. It's supposed to be able to do metal as well, but I haven't tried that yet. I do wish it came with an even smaller drill bit for really tiny holes, but that's probably too much to ask.

I drilled two extra holes in each of the flowers so that I could attach them more securely to the chain and also be able to put some beads in the center of each flower.

And then I needed to add lots of chain and dangles like a waterfall behind the flowers:

I just love those Carribbean opal Swarovskis with the brass - they look awesome.

I'm not sure why the clasp looks a different color in this picture - it actually matches the chain very well. Another example of my stunning photography anti-skill, no doubt.

And then to make the day complete, these beauties showed up in my mailbox:

Crazy colors, but I just love that electric shot of yellow going through. These are from Beau Hawn on Etsy.

And check out this stunning Sea Anemone pendant, also from Beau Hawn. It's amazing!

Happy Wednesday!

Marie - thank you. Glad you like the necklace. And yes, I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear from "Bead Trends." Looks like maybe we won't hear until after the 4th of July holiday.

Susan - Thank you!

Rose - Thanks and I only hope I can come up with a good design idea. Sometimes, the prettier the bead is, the more intimidated I get by it.

Meghann - thank you so much. I'm glad things are improving, too. Except, now, what will I write about? LOL!
