It's a little toasty around here...

So, it was eleventy-bazillion degrees over the weekend which, of course, means it's time for So Cal to explode into flames. The fire is burning over an hour away from where I live and yet I could still see MASSIVE columns of smoke rising up every time I went over an overpass during the weekend. It's awful.

The only thing my area has going for it right now is that we had our big fire two years ago (Santiago Canyon) so it usually takes a while for the brush to build back up and get "fire-worthy" again.

Still, it's awful even when it's happening an hour away. I really HATE this time of year.

we are in smoke up here too, over 423 fires burning right now - not to close to so many people as is your case - my prayers are for your collective safety - peace for all

I'm in Rancho Palos Verdes and had some friends who had a good view of the fires here last week. Thank goodness there was no major damage or injuries.

I'm with you - it is awful. The fire is right above where I live and we were told to evacuate at 2:00 a.m. this morning. We got to end up staying, but the hillsides are still burning right now with no end in sight. I HATE this and it is extremely nerve-wracking.

I know just what you mean. I lived in Australia for 11 years and bush fires were always there at the middle of summer to end when it was hot as, well, blazes. It's unerving when it is so close. Not to mention the air quality is zero. Stay safe. I'll be thining about you.

Stay safe and know that we are praying for rain. It is horrible to watch this tragedy unfold, yearly. But in my heart I am praying for strength and peace for those most affected.

Enjoy the day!

I'm lucky enough to be about 60-70 miles away this time, but that hasn't always been the case. I sure hope that everyone stays safe and that no more structures are lost.
