I Bring the Fire

I've been making nothing but necklaces lately so I decided it was time to do a bracelet. I found these amazing Tibetan copal amber beads from Sweet Rock Candy on Etsy:

And then I saw some great red and yellow jade beads at Uncommon Beads:

Plus, I knew I already had some aged pewter rose beads and a couple of fantastic sets of red and yellow disk lampwork beads from Blue Seraphim so I had the design all ready to go in my head.

Except then I couldn't find the lampwork.
Now, how is it possible I spent the last few months and a lot of $$$ on containers meticulously organizing all of my art beads and yet managed to lose two sets in the process? Only I could pull of such an amazing feat of disorganization while in the process of organizing something.
I am spectacular that way.
So, I went back to making necklaces for a while.
Then, this weekend, I happened to move one of my piles of beading books and TA DA! Lampwork found trapped behind the stack of books. I must have set them down on top of the pile and then they rolled off. It's a miracle!

Normally, there would also be a picture here of the yellow lampwork disks, but apparently, I have lost that, too.

Go, me.

Anyway, the planets finally aligned and the muse woke up from her regular drunken stupor and I was able to create my "Sunfire" bracelet:

And yeah, I know, it's a LOT. It's fluffy. It also has tiny touches of an almost hidden purple in it. The muse kept bugging me to put purple in this bracelet, but I thought it was already heading towards "over the top" territory so we compromised and I just put these teeny hints in.

I know some of you are frightened by this bracelet. It does look like it's going to crawl away on its own power at any moment, but I'm kinda likin' it anyway (plus, reducing the fluffiness would involve cutting off dangles thus sacrificing a whole buncha sterling silver headpins and I'm just not capable of being that cruel). I thought it might be kinda fun to do a poll and see what everyone thinks about this so see the poll up there on the top right of the blog screen if you want to voice your opinion.

The clasp is a sterling toggle from Cathy Dailey.
After all that wire-wrapping (and there was a LOT of wire-wrapping), I needed a break. So, a simple pair of earrings seemed like a good idea:

These are my "Postale Rouge" earrings.

I used some of my resin bezels - created with Patera bezels and French postage images.

I added some aged copper chain and leaf dangles and wired on some strawberry quartz marquis and red coral beads.

I had intended to start some more resin projects last night, but since the kid and I didn't get home until after 7 PM and then we still had to do dinner, shower and "quality time", resin-ating was put on hold. I ALMOST stayed up after he went to bed to work on it, but I've learned from past experience that I do NOT do good work when I tired and trying to rush something in before bedtime. Invariably, I make some kind of stupid and/or costly mistake that either ruins something completely or wastes materials or requires that an entire piece be redone.

So, I went to bed instead.

KJ

P.S. Don't forget to vote in the poll!

I like the bracelet. I actually let out a little "wow" when I scrolled down and saw it.
I must be dense - I can't find the poll. If I could, I'd vote for: keep the bracelet as is.

that bracelet is SPECTACULAR! My three fav colors, and you combined them with great panache and style! It is luscious. Well worth the wait! Love the earrings too. Happy Mango Beads has those same exact tibetan beads--also in lapis as well as the amber and red (and lots of different sizes/colors), with free shipping for min $15 purchase. I sound like a commercial. Wonderful piece of jewelry!!!

Go you! That bracelet may be jingly jangly but it is also sparkletastically fun! I love the rev me up color palette and I think you should listen to your muse more often... a pop of purple? Perfect (I would go even further and add one more lampwork bead in that shade and it would be over the top cool!) I love it, KJ! Well done! Enjoy the day! Erin

I love that bracelet. It's like going into one of those old fashioned sweet shops with all of the the different lollies in jars. Earings great too. The resin pieces look wonderful.

Wow - I love those colors in the bracelet. I'm not sure I could pull off wearing it, but I sure am inspired.

I think the Sunfire bracelet turned out excellently! There are a ton of beads on there and I know it took forever to wire wrap all of them, but it's GORGEOUS! Love all the bright colors
